The General Program

Women in Temple bookstore

Have you ever thought, “I’d like to meditate but I don’t know how”?

Anyone can meditate and experience inner peace – we just have to learn how. In these practical classes, you will learn essential meditation techniques and contemplations which you can apply to your own life to find deeper meaning and happiness. Discover how meditation can help you de-stress, solve your own problems, and experience true joy and satisfaction. Everyone is welcome to any class, regardless of background or experience.

The General Program (GP) is open to all. It provides an introduction to Buddhist teachings and meditations. Through these classes, we can learn how to meditate and how to use Buddha's advice in our daily lives to solve our problems and find the peace and happiness we seek.

This program is taught at UUFLG by our Teacher, Reed Sherman, on Thursday evenings from 7:30-9:00PM.

About the Classes

Each class features guided meditations, lighthearted, compelling talks and opportunities for discussion and questions. Drop in on any class and enjoy learning simple meditation techniques and hearing Buddhist advice for living a happy, fulfilling life.

All are welcome. We look forward to meeting you!

$10 per class. Tea and light snacks provided.

Our Center

Duldzin Dragpa Buddhist Center is currently located in a neighborhood near Blossom Valley in San Jose. Here we hold day courses and pujas (chanted meditations).

Our Center is a member of the New Kadampa Tradition (NKT), established by Ven. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

Our Teacher
Reed photoReed Sherman has been studying, practicing, and teaching Buddhist meditation for 15 years under the guidance of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. Tessa Logan, the Resident Teacher of Saraha Buddhist Center in San Francisco has appointed Reed to be the Teacher in San Jose.

Our Bookstore
Our bookstore in Blossom Hill contains the 21 books written by our Spiritual Director and Teacher, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. They are suitable for both beginners and more experienced meditators. His books are available on CD also.

Pujas, chanted meditations, are open to everyone.

Reciting ancient prayers translated into English, we receive the blessings and guidance of the holy beings. We also make requests for ourselves or for others who need help or protection.

Offering to the Spiritual Guide Puja
By engaging in this puja, we have the opportunity to mix our mind with our Spiritual Guide's enlightened blessings and inspiration and gain experience of all the stages of the spiritual path of Sutra and Tantra. This puja happens on the 10th and 25th of every month from 7:00-9:00 p.m.  An offering of food or drink is welcome.

Tara Puja
By offering praises and requests to Mother Tara, the female Buddha of wisdom, we increase our fearlessness and swift wisdom and come under Tara's loving care and protection. Tara puja takes place on the 8th of every month from 7:00-7:45 p.m.
