Our Center
We all want to feel more positive and happy but we need the tools to do it. The meditation classes offered by Dzalandhara Buddhist Center are open to anyone interested in Buddhism and meditation as a way to solve daily problems and find lasting peace.

Our programs are taught by Buddhist Teachers, Kevin Otsuka and Bee Uytiepo. Our Spiritual Director is Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, a highly- acclaimed meditation master and author of 21 books on Buddhism.

Dzalandhara Buddhist Center is part of the New Kadampa Tradition-International Kadampa Buddhist Union (NKT-IKBU), established by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. This international association of study and meditation centers follows the pure tradition of Mahayana Buddhism derived from the Buddhist meditators and scholars Atisha and Je Tsongkhapa.

Our Teachers
Bee Uytiepo has been a student of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso's since 1997. She began studying at Khandakapala Buddhist Center in Los Angeles and continues to study at Saraha Center in San Francisco.

Kevin Otsuka began studying Buddhism 8 years ago at the NKT Buddhist Center in San Diego. He is now a student at Saraha Center in San Francisco. Kevin's teachings are enthusiastic and heart-felt.

General Program Classes
Mondays in Berkeley
7:00-8:30pm

Chochmat HaLev
2215 Prince Street (at Fulton), Berkeley
with Buddhist Teacher, Kevin Otsuka

These drop-in meditation classes consist of a talk, guided meditation and a chance for questions and answers. Each talk is a part of a series, yet is self-contained. This means that you can drop in at any point and still feel that you have something worthwhile to take home with you. Each month we present a different series of classes.
We also have weekly classes in Hayward.

Fundraising for a Building
Dzalandhara is looking for a commercial space in the East Bay in order to offer a greater variety of classes such as morning meditations, chanted prayers, day classes and retreats.

If you are interested in volunteering your ideas or time to this endeavor please contact our Administrative Director, Cate Fields at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or phone her at (510) 559-8183.
