Day-long Meditation Retreats in San Francisco1) Lamrim (Stages of the Path) Guided Retreat with Tessa Logan - Saturday, August 28
Lamrim means "the stages of the path to enlightenment." It is a special set of instructions that is the synthesis of all of Buddha Shakyamuni's 84,000 teachings.
The Lamrim instructions are easy to understand and practice, and provide us with a thorough and systematic experience of all the Buddha's instructions that we can readily apply to solving the problems of daily life. With a deep experience of Lamrim, there will be no basis for these problems. Eventually, we shall attain freedom from all suffering, and the unchanging peace and happiness of enlightenment.
2) Shelter from the Storm ~ Guided Refuge Retreat with Tessa Logan - Saturday, September 25
Going for refuge means finding an authentic place of shelter and safety within our own hearts by relying upon the Three Jewels of Buddhist refuge: Buddha, Dharma (pure teachings), and Sangha (pure spiritual friends). During this day-long retreat, we will have a perfect opportunity to deepen our experience of refuge by strengthening our reliance upon the Three Jewels.
3) Freedom From Our Past ~ The Purification Practice of Buddha Vajrasattva: Guided Retreat with Tessa Logan - Saturday, October 9
In order to make progress on the spiritual path, or even to achieve our ordinary goals, it is essential that we make the connection between our past non-virtuous actions and the problems that arise in our daily life. During this retreat, we will learn about the four powers of purification: regret, reliance, the opponent force and promise. By sincerely engaging in the purification practice of Buddha Vajrasattva, we can remove both the causes of our future suffering and the obstacles to our spiritual practice.
