Welcome to Meditation in Northern California

Living Without Fear Daycourse

Welcome to the website of all Kadampa Buddhist Centers and branches in Northern California. On this site, you will find information about our drop-in meditation classes, retreats, advanced Buddhist studies, books on meditation and Buddhism, day courses and special events, and more.

We have a beautiful Temple in the Mission district of San Francisco where we offer meditation classes for everyone. Our main drop-in meditation classes are on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 - 8:45 p.m. where we provide live translation into Spanish. Our Sunday Morning Meditation classes are on Sunday mornings from 10:30 a.m. - noon. See the links on the left for all our branch classes.

The Kadampa Buddhist Centers of Northern California were all founded by the world-renowned meditation master, teacher and author, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

Meditation Makes Sense

Meditation is a simple yet profound method which can improve the quality of our lives. Through following very clear, practical instructions, we can learn to let go of the causes of our pain and dissatisfaction and gain the inner peace and clarity we seek. Anyone can learn to meditate.

We are currently offering weekly drop-in meditation classes in downtown San Francisco, the Haight and Castro districts of San Francisco, at the Temple in San Francisco, in San Jose, Palo Alto, Los Gatos, Corte Madera, Petaluma, Napa, Reno (Nevada), Sacramento, Truckee, Arcata, Healdsburg, Rohnert Park, Sonoma, Stockton, Berkeley, Walnut Creek, Fremont, Newark and Hayward.

If you would like to be up-to-date on everything happening at our meditation Centers in Northern California, you can sign up for our monthly newsletter (by typing in your e-mail address on the left).
